'Tulip' Irish Linen Cushion

Irish linen, woven & garment dyed cushion, the design is hand drawn, hand cut stencil, silkscreen printed, constructed and sewn in my studio in Co Down, Ireland.

How and where my pieces are put together is of huge importance to me, the fact the number of them available is limited is also important, these are pieces of irish craft, the way they are made using hand cut paper stencils limits the number of prints possible from one stencil and that is what I love most about paper stencil silkscreen printing.  The alternative is making screens to pull lots of prints which involves a lot of water and chemicals so by using paper stencils I eliminate the environmentally harmful process and have a more unique product at the end of the process.  
 
The irish linen printed front was woven in Co Antrim, the natural linen back woven in Co Derry, the white piping is also irish linen using a cotton cord filler.
