Aran Lino Print

The Aran knit is a mainstay here in Ireland,  it's in our field of vision either as a sweater or in the landscape. The patterns and stitches are borne from this place, 
 
I wanted to spend time looking at the patterns and the stitches, and make a print on paper that was my interpretation of that study. Without referring back to an actual sweater, I drew this out, a loose interpretation of actual stitches, hand drawn and hand carved into lino. 
 
This is an edition of 50 printed on Hereford printmaking paper 145gsm, measuring 56x76cms. The ini is Cranfield safewash Black.
 
The prints are sold unframed, rolled & delivered in a poster tube.
