Tulip Quilt

I made this piece from rescued pure irish linen dating back into the mid to early 1900's, along with pieces from Flax Mills in Dungiven. The design is dictated by a much larger tulip based design I recently completed as a commission, these silkscreen printed tulips were left over from that piece and have worked really well here combined with hand printed triangles and unprinted natural and naturally bleached linen. There are also a small number of vintage cotton squares included too. 
 
I would describe this size of quilt as a toddler cot size, or a perfect baby playmat, or of course a wall hanging*. In all it is a very pretty piece and while I'll be sad to see it go as I have really enjoyed making it, it will make a lovely heirloom piece for a family welcoming a new baby.
 
(*If you want to hang it as a wall hanging please ask and I can insert some linen hanging loops at the top.) 
 
It measures 1 metre by 78 cms. It is fully washable by hand  - as with all hand made quilts, care and gentle hand wringing are recommended to preserve the shape and placement of the natural cotton batting within the quilt. 
 
The piece is entirely hand printed and hand stitched in my studio in Co Down, Ireland.
